Wanda Ruth Titus Schlumbohm, 92, of DeGraff, passed away peacefully and went home to be with her Lord and Savior at 1 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2016, at her home.
She was born in Rushcreek Township on Dec. 3, 1923, to the late Roy Ernest and Mary Ann Sutherland Titus.
On Jan. 18, 1944, she married her husband of 70 years, Richard H. Schlumbohm, and he preceded her in death Oct. 13, 2014. She also was preceded in death by her sister, Freda O’Rielley; and by two brothers, Joe R. and Donald Titus.
Richard and Wanda’s marriage blessed them with three children; Diane Rice of Indianapolis, Steve (Christie) Schlumbohm of DeGraff and Marylu Clute of West Liberty; four grandchildren, Chris Schlumbohm, Micah Schlumbohm, A.J. Barron and Colin Clute; five great-grandchildren, Kameron, Kirstin, Kaitlyn, Annabelle and Layton Schlumbohm; and many nieces and nephews.
As lifelong Logan County residents, Wanda and Richard were charter members of the Logan County Agrarian Club that was established in 1945. In 1950, she and Richard moved to the farm east of DeGraff and later purchased it and it still operates as the family farm today. Wanda was a homemaker and overseer of the farm finances.
Together with hard work and dedication, Wanda and Richard received many accolades. In 1997, they were acclaimed as the Bellefontaine Examiner’s Farm Family of the Year. Richard and Wanda were also members of Farm Bureau Council 23.
A member of the DeGraff United Methodist Church, Wanda served as treasurer of WSCS. She was an honored 4-H leader in the DeGraff area for nearly 30 years of service, as well as a member of the Logan County Health Board, Logan County Election Board and Logan County Cancer Society for many years. She was also an avid seamstress and member of the Logan County Piecemakers Quilt Guild.
Visitation is from 3 to 6 p.m. Friday, Feb. 26, at the Daring & Sanford Funeral Home, 210 W. Hayes St., DeGraff. Pastor Kym James officiates a funeral at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 27, at the DeGraff United Methodist Church, with visitation one hour prior. Burial is at the convenience of the family.
