Felony drugs charges result from traffic stop
Mahnik F. Hackley, 31, of Urbana, was charged with two felony counts of possession of drugs during a traffic stop about 12:20 p.m. Thursday.
Deputies on patrol in the area of U.S. Route 68 near Township Road 130 observed her vehicle pull into a driveway at 5421 S U.S. 68. Deputies stopped to check on the vehicle and said the operator, Hackley, had a suspended license and her vehicle registration also was fictitious, as it belonged to a different vehicle.
She provided deputies with consent to search the vehicle. Inside a purse, deputies found percocet pills and a crushed white powdery substance. Also inside the driver’s door, deputies seized a pill bottle containing a white powder residue.
She told deputies she crushes pills because she has trouble swallowing them. Hackley was placed under arrest and lodged in the Logan County Jail.
