United Way’s annual campaign in Logan County is off to its second-fastest start ever.
A total of $377,166 has already been pledged toward the $1 million goal, as volunteers with the United Way’s Million Dollar Roundtable, learned Tuesday morning during their monthly meeting.
Only the 2017 campaign had a hotter start, achieving $393,122 by this comparable point. $951,696 was raised that year.
“Consider that 34 of the 44 businesses who have committed to run a workplace giving campaign this fall haven’t even started, and there are plenty of reasons to be optimistic,” said Dave Bezusko, United Way of Logan County Executive Director. “But there’s still a lot of work to be done.
“Early giving highlights include record-level giving campaigns by Bellefontaine City Schools (27 percent increase over last year), Benjamin Logan Schools (48 percent increase over last year), Citizens Federal Savings & Loan (11 percent increase over last year), and West Liberty-Salem Schools (22 percent increase). Mary Rutan Hospital has achieved a five percent increase over last year. NEX Transport has a 21 percent increase in employee giving.”
Bezusko encourages would-be donors to make their pledge via payroll deduction at work when given the opportunity over the next two months if their workplace offers a United Way giving option. If not, to make a recurring or one-time gift via credit card at www.uwlogan.org, and to encourage their employer to start a workplace campaign.
United Way fights for the health, education, and financial stability of every person in Logan County.
Logan County remains the smallest community in the state to ever have a $1 million campaign for its local United Way, and it’s been accomplished three years in a row. 91 cents of every dollar given goes directly to programming, topping the Better Business Bureau standard of 65 cents of every dollar goes to the cause, with 35 cents supporting overhead.
