Davante R. Lyburtus-Ratleff, 26, of 450 Kristina Drive, Apt. 2D, was arrested Saturday for attempted felonious assault, domestic violence, vandalism and two counts of child endangering.
Officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department were called to the residence around 8:20 p.m. and found the suspect and the victim, Aubrey M. Ray, of the same address.
Ray was bleeding heavily and the suspect was detained by officers.
Ray told officers she was punched, choked and kicked numerous times in the head by the suspect before she fled outside. Three men came to her aid and she was able to return to the residence.
Officers report she sustained facial injuries and was transported by private vehicle to Mary Rutan Hospital for treatment. The couple’s two children were present at the time of the attack.
One of the three men who came to Ray’s aid filed a complaint against the suspect. He and another man were struck in the face by the suspect.
The suspect also damaged an air conditioning unit and a wooden porch fence.
He was lodged in the Logan County Jail.
Motorist charged with OVI
Oscar Diaz, 35, of Urbana, was charged Sunday with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs. He also was cited for a marked lanes violation and having an open container of alcohol in motor vehicle.
Around 12:40 a.m., officers were alerted to a possible intoxicated driver. The caller was following the blue pickup truck and led officers to north Main Street.
Several marked lanes violations occurred in the 1200 and 1300 blocks before a traffic stop was initiated.
Diaz had an open can of beer in the center console of the pickup, officers noted.
Field sobriety tests indicated he was impaired by alcohol. His breathalyzer sample was 0.232.
He was released to a sober friend.
Man charged for threatening neighbor
Robert C. Anderson, 55, of 715 W. Chillicothe Ave., Apt. 7, was charged Saturday with aggravated menacing. Robert Board, who lives in a neighboring apartment, and several witnesses reported Anderson threatened Board during a noontime argument.
Woman cited in hit-skip crash
Amy M. Anderson, 51, of Bellefontaine, was cited for leaving the scene of a crash and failure to control. Video footage showed she drove a car which hit portions of Citizens Federal Saving and Loan Bank, 126 N. Main St., drive up structure around 6:25 p.m. April 26.
Officers observed damage to the driver’s side front bumper and to the passenger side of the car.
Anderson told officers she didn’t think she hit the drive up structure very hard.
