Two people were charged with multiple offenses Friday after they tried to steal shopping carts full of merchandise valued at more than $1,800.
Harli Michelle Masters, 19, of Dayton, was charged with felony theft, possession of drugs and illegal conveyance of drugs into detention facility, officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department report.
Michael A. Fisher, 28, of West Liberty, was charged with felony theft, falsification, resisting arrest, possession of drugs and illegal conveyance of drugs into a detention facility.
They were confronted in Wal-Mart, 2281 S. Main St., around 6:30 a.m. after store personnel observed them cutting items out of packages and removing security wraps.
The male suspect struggled and fought officers’ attempts to arrest him. He was tackled and threatened with a Taser before he complied with police.
A small bag of methamphetamine was found inside the suspect’s sock at the Logan County Jail. He also gave police false information.
The female suspect was able to conceal methamphetamine and abuse it while incarcerated in jail. She admitted to the abuse on Sunday.
Police investigate overnight shooting
Officers are looking into a shooting that occurred around 2:30 a.m. today and damaged two parked vehicles at 1000 Garfield Ave., Lot 38.
Bullet holes were found in both vehicles and one had a flattened rear tire.
Officers recovered five 9 mm gun shell casings at the scene.
