Two defendants charged with possession of drugs pleaded guilty
Two defendants charged with possession of drugs pleaded guilty Tuesday, Nov. 12, in Logan County Common Pleas Court.
Brent A. Scott, 25, of Michigan, pleaded guilty to attempted aggravated possession of drugs, and failure to comply with an order or signal of a police officer, both third-degree felonies.
His sentencing is set for Dec. 9 at 11 a.m.
Scott was charged in July with aggravating trafficking in drugs, aggravating possession of drugs, possession of cocaine and failure to comply.
An officer of the Bellefontaine Police Department on patrol observed a southbound car with its bright lights on at 10:40 p.m. in the 900 block of south Main Street. He caught up with the car and initiated a stop at Malone Avenue.
During the stop, Scott lead the officer on a chase through the city reaching speeds of more than 80 mph.
Scott crashed at county roads 56 and 57.
He was caught after a brief foot chase. He claimed he fled the stop for the, “fun of it.”
Upon searching the car, officers found powdered cocaine in a pill bottle and 180 prescription opioid pain relievers. They also found packaging commonly used for selling drugs.
Nelsonville woman pleads guilty to drug charges
Tesla J. Furr, 26, of Nelsonville, pleaded guilty to possession of heroin, and aggravated possession of drugs, both felonies of the fifth degree.
Her sentencing is set for Dec. 9 at 1 p.m.
Furr was charged in March 2018 with possession of heroin and possession of drug abuse instruments, and was also served with an Athens County warrant.
An officer of the Bellefontaine Police Department observed an occupied parked car in the 600 block of Henry Street with three passengers and no driver. Upon contact with the driver, she told officers she did not know the others in the car.
A warrant for Furr’s arrest came up in a records check. Tar heroin was found in her purse and a digital scale with heroin residue was recovered from her book bag.
Hypodermic needles, including one loaded with heroin, were also found inside the car.
