The Logan County Unified Drug Task Force conducted a narcotic enforcement operation in the village of Quincy Sunday evening, which resulted in the arrest of three defendants during a traffic stop.
Driver James D. Hughes, 48, from Piqua, was arrested for on a warrant for aggravated trafficking in methamphetamine.
Passengers Anthony J. Howard, 43, and Danielle L. Kelzenberg, 52, both of Piqua, each were arrested for possession of methamphetamine and trafficking in methamphetamine.
The Task Force conducted the traffic stop on Township Road 255, Quincy, and arrested Hughes on the warrant.
The back seat passenger Howard and the front seat passenger Kelzenberg were secured and removed from the vehicle.
K9 Thor was deployed and alerted to the presence of narcotics inside the vehicle.
Through a probable cause search of the vehicle and the investigation, the Task Force located 57 grams of methamphetamine and 0.5 grams of fentanyl.
A loaded 9mm handgun was found on the floorboard of the back seat, easily assessable to Howard.
All three defendants were lodged in the Logan County Jail.
The enforcement operation was the result of an investigation into large amounts of methamphetamine being brought into Logan County to be sold.
“The Task Force is committed to identifying, investigating, and arresting those responsible for bringing large amounts of narcotics into the county,” members said.
