BOYD |
A standout basketball career for Triad’s Ryan Boyd was capped by an honorable mention Division IV all-Ohio selection Monday.
Boyd, a senior guard, battled an early-season ankle injury but still put together stellar numbers for the Cardinals. He averaged 18.6 points, 6.8 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game.
Boyd, who was the Ohio Heritage Conference player of the year as a junior, finished just 14 points shy of breaking the Triad all-time scoring mark.
Jackson Center’s Drew Sosby was one of three players who shared the player of the year award for the Associated Press Division IV all-state first team. Joining Sosby were Africentric’s Houston Smith and Willoughby Cornerstone Christian’s Michael Bothwell.
Sosby and Jackson Center (24-4) will play in a Division IV state semifinal at 2 p.m. Friday against Lincolnview at Ohio State’s Schottenstein Center. Lincolnview (26-1) is the top-ranked team in the state.
