Tom E. Woods, 51, of 209 W. Baird St., West Liberty, was charged with operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs as a result of a traffic stop Tuesday evening.
Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office on patrol in the area of U.S. Route 68 at Township Road 199 about 8:10 p.m. observed Woods’ vehicle make several marked lanes violations. The vehicle was stopped near Township Road 190.
While speaking with the driver, deputies observed that he displayed signs of intoxication. He also reportedly had trouble keeping his balance after he was asked to exit the vehicle. When asked how much alcohol he had consumed that day, he told deputies “way too much.”
He did not complete field sobriety testing, and at the Logan County Jail, he refused to take a breath test. The defendant also was cited for a marked lanes violation and driving left of center.
No injuries reported in C.R. 32 crash
Deputies responded about 12:10 p.m. Tuesday to a non-injury crash on County Road 32 at State Route 47.
Danielle M. Brunk, 29, of Bellefontaine, was operating a northbound pickup on C.R. 32 when she crossed into the southbound lane of travel and struck the left driver’s side of a southbound pickup operated by Tracey A. Smith, 59, of West Liberty.
Brunk was cited for a marked lanes violation. The drivers were wearing their seat belts.
