Driver Kamy Hinkle, 48, of Lima and her passenger, Lori Pacha, 57, of Lakeview, each were charged with a felony count of possession of drugs as a result of a Friday afternoon traffic stop.
Officers of the Washington Township Police Department on patrol in the area of State Route 235 near State Route 708 about 2:40 p.m. initiated a traffic stop on a gray Ford traveling the roadway with a shattered windshield. While speaking with Hinkle, she advised officers she did not have a valid driver’s license nor has she had a driver’s license in the last 20 years.
K9 Bruno was called to the scene and he alerted on the vehicle. Inside the vehicle, officers seized a clear plastic baggie containing suspected methamphetamine, and also located methamphetamine in Hinkle’s purse.
Officers observed that Pacha was placing an item into the front grill of the vehicle. When she was asked to back away, officers recovered a glass meth pipe with suspected methamphetamine that struck the inside of the grill. The vehicle was towed from the scene.
• Officers also are forwarding a case to the Logan County Prosecutor’s Office for a charge of felony possession of a controlled substance against a 29-year-old Lakeview woman resulting from a traffic stop about 1 p.m. Sunday.
Officers initiated the stop in the area U.S. Route 33 and 120 W. Main St., Russells Point, for a vehicle with a fictitious registration. Upon making contact with the driver, she was found to not have a valid driver’s license. She gave officers consent to search the vehicle. Inside her purse, a schedule II stimulant drug was located and the driver did not have a prescription for the medication.
Woman lodged for domestic violence
Terri Giles, 49, 8968 Maple St. Lakeview, was charged with domestic violence as a result of an incident Friday at her residence involving her 16-year-old daughter.
Officers were dispatched about 4:10 p.m. to her address and after receiving a report from the 16-year-old, who advised that her mother accused her of stealing her drugs.
When the daughter denied taking any of the drugs, Giles allegedly began to hit her and also attempted to choke her daughter.
The daughter was able to break free and ran from the residence. She made contact with an older sibling and she met with officers to make a report.
Officers noticed red marks on the side of the 16-year-old’s face, along with scratches and strangle marks around the teenager’s neck. Officers also noticed that the teen was wearing ripped clothing as a result of a struggle.
When officers spoke with Giles, she denied touching her daughter. There were active working surveillance cameras outside the home and inside the home. Officers asked Giles to look at the videos, but she stated that the video system was not working properly and would not assist with looking at the video.
The defendant stated the pair did get into a disagreement, she but would never hit her children. When asked about what started the incident Giles advised officers the argument was over her medical marijuana coming up missing.
Giles was arrested and was lodged in the Logan County Jail. Logan County Children’s Services was made aware of the incident.
