Mark D. Johns, 51, of 695 N. Troy Road, was charged Tuesday with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs and cited for driving under suspension.
He was stopped around 10:25 p.m. after witnesses reported an erratic tow truck driver who was driving left of center on Main Street near Auburn Avenue.
He was stopped on Auburn Avenue near Elm Street. Upon contact with Johns, officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department detected an odor of alcohol when he told them he was looking for “208 S. Auburn.” Officers asked him to clarify as Auburn runs east/west, not north/south. He returned to his truck to retrieve paperwork and stumbled on his way.
He declined to take field sobriety tests or submit a breathalyzer sample.
