West Liberty-Salem’s girls basketball team dominated the Ohio Heritage Conference North division and won the championship this winter with a perfect 16-0 record.
A large part of that success was thanks to Tiger senior standout Selena Weaver, who was named the OHC North co-player of the year. Weaver shared the honor with Mechanicsburg standout Grace Forrest.
Also earning North division first-team spots along with Weaver and Forrest were WL-Salem’s Emily Hollar and Triad’s Cati LeVan.
Landing on the second-team squad were the Tigers’ Grace Estes and the Cardinal’s Frani LeVan.
Honorable mention selections went to WL-Salem’s Sophie Cole and Triad’s Emma Ferguson.
Rounding out the North first-team selections were Mechanicsburg’s Forrest and West Jefferson’s Gabby King, while second-team selections included Fairbanks’ Macy Miller and Carly Lehman and West Jefferson’s Megan McClish.
Receiving honorable mention spots for the North division were Mechanicsburg’s Lani Wilhelm, West Jefferson’s Taylor Roberts, Northeastern’s Isabella Allison and Fairbanks’ Elaina Lahmers.
The OHC South division was headlined by Springfield Catholic Central’s Abbigail Peterson, who was tabbed the player of the year.
Making up the South division first-team squad were Catholic Central’s Peterson, Mallory Mullen and Serenity Castle, Greenon’s Claire Henry and Cedarville’s Luisa Christian.
The second team was made up of Greeneview’s Rachael Strickle and Ellie Snyder, Greenon’s Abby West, Southeastern’s Lily Hudson and Cedarville’s Elly Coe.
Earning honorable mention awards were Catholic Central’s Meghan Foster, Madison Plains’ Chloe Kelly and Rylee Davis, Greenon’s Macy Young, Southeastern’s Kelsey Vollrath and Cedarville’s Ciara Horney.
