West Liberty-Salem’s volleyball team made quick work of Anna in its Division III sectional tournament opener Thursday night in Brookville.
The Tigers breezed to a 25-20, 25-17, 25-20 victory to improve to 13-9 on the season. They move on to play Bethel at 3:30 p.m. Saturday in Brookville.
Gabby Williams had a strong all-around effort to spark the Tigers. She had 27 assists, 13 digs, two kills, one block and was 11-11 serving with two aces.
Also for the Tigers, Michelle Smith had 11 kills, 13 digs, was 16-21 serving with one ace and 12-12 on serves received, Leah Ropp was 9-9 serving with one ace, Bailey Poppe had 12 kills, eight digs, was 11-11 serving with one ace and 10-12 on serves received, Chaley Wade had four kills and two digs, Olivia Wilcox recorded 12 digs and was 5-6 on serves received, Naomi McGill was 7-7 serving and Ally Gaver had 12 digs and was 15-15 serving with one ace.

St. Henry stops Raiders
Benjamin Logan’s volleyball team was defeated by visiting state-ranked St. Henry 25-12, 22-25, 25-17, 25-13 in a non-league match that was recently added to the schedule.
The Raiders are now 13-10 on the season.
For Ben Logan, Lynzee Cronkleton had 11 assists, two aces, 11 digs and seven kills, Lily Makin had four kills, Ryelle Gibson had four kills and two blocks, Jordan Sexstone had 10 digs, Kylie Frazier tallied six kills and two blocks, Lauren Dixon had five assists and two points and Georgia Bates added seven digs.
Ben Logan will return to tournament action Monday at 6:30 p.m. against Kenton Ridge at Tecumseh.
