West Liberty-Salem’s volleyball team stopped a five-match losing skid with a three-set victory over visiting West Jefferson on Tuesday.
The Tigers dropped the Roughriders 25-14, 25-18-25-9 in Ohio Heritage Conference play.
The Tigers are now 11-8 overall and 10-5 in the league, while the Roughriders fall to 4-11, 4-11.
Bailey Poppe fueled WL-Salem with 17 kills, four aces, nine digs, was 15-15 serving and 5-6 serves received, Gabby Williams tallied five aces, four kills, 33 assists and was 13-15 serving, Ally Garver had 15 digs, was 15-15 serving and 12-12 serves received, Leah Ropp recorded nine kills, one ace, six digs, was 6-7 serving and 7-8 serves received and Olivia Wilcox had seven digs, three aces, was 9-10 serving and 11-12 serves received.
In junior varsity action, West Jefferson rallied to beat WL-Salem 23-25, 26-24, 25-20.
Mallory Bostick led the Tigers with five kills, four aces, two digs and was 11-12 serving, Rylie Schultz had four kills, four aces, eight digs and was 15-16 serving, Bella Meister had three aces, four digs, 12 assists and was 7-7 serving and Whitney Strapp had five digs, three aces and was 14-15 serving.
WL-Salem travels to neighboring Triad for a local OHC contest.
Chiefs swept by Braves
Bellefontaine’s volleyball team fell to host Springfield Shawnee in straight sets on Tuesday 25-14, 25-13, 25-18 during Central Buckeye Conference action.
The Chieftains fall to 4-15 overall and 1-8 in the CBC Kenton Trail, while the Braves bump their record to 4-8, 2-5.
Katie Pool and Lilly Palmer combined for 25 assists to lead BHS, while Sarah Starkey and Olivia Ullom led the offense.
In junior varsity action, Bellefontaine beat Shawnee 25-21, 25-13. Jordan Butler led the team in assists, Takara Williams led in serving, while Grace Barrett, Mia Oppy and Delmary Zayas all led the offense.
Bellefontaine hosts state-ranked Jonathan Alder on Thursday.
Triad falls to Mechanicsburg
Triad’s volleyball team couldn’t slow down host Mechanicsburg on Tuesday in a three-set loss 25-13, 25-8, 25-12 during Ohio Heritage Conference play.
The Cardinals drop to 1-18 overall and 0-14 in the OHC, while the Indians are now 15-2, 13-2.
Triad hosts WL-Salem on Thursday for a local OHC contest.
