Benjamin Logan hung around for a half Saturday, but could not withstand a third-quarter flurry by host Bellefontaine in a boys basketball game pitting a pair of Logan County rivals against each other.

The Chiefs led by nine points at halftime before pulling away for a 58-35 victory.
“I wasn’t pleased with our focus in the first half,” said Bellefontaine coach Henry Stolly. “We were careless with the basketball in the second quarter and we just weren’t very sharp. But our kids did a nice job seizing control of the game in the third quarter. We were aggressive on the boards and got a lot of second-chance points.”
Bellefontaine led 24-15 at the break. The Chiefs then went on a 16-2 run to begin the second half to open up a commanding 23-point lead at 40-17.
Ben Logan was unable to recover from the rough start to the second half.
“We didn’t do the things defensively in the second half that we did in the first half,” said Ben Logan head coach Scott Reule. “If we would have done what we were supposed to on defense in the second half, the results would have been similar to the first half, and we would have given ourselves a chance.”
The Chiefs led 41-20 at the end of the third quarter and led by as many as 27 points in the final period.
Junior guard Dawsin Tillman paced a balanced Bellefontaine attack with a game-high 18 points.
“Dawsin has had a pretty solid year for us,” said Stolly. “When you look at his stats, his scoring average is maybe not quite as high as you would hope, but he does a lot of different things aside from scoring. He provides a calming effect, and tonight he was really assertive early on to get us the lead.”
