A DeGraff teenager accused in the fatal stabbing and beating death of his mother has been charged as an adult with murder.
A Logan County grand jury handed up indictments this week which included a single charge of murder for Brycen C. Caudill, 16.
The charge was expected after proceedings in Logan Court Juvenile Court determined there was probable cause to believe he committed the offense.
Juveniles 14 and older who are accused of murder can be tried as an adult in Ohio and, in most cases, juvenile judges are required to bind the proceeding over to a common pleas court.
Caudill was arrested Aug. 16. Some time before 7 a.m., he attacked his mother, Crystal Caudill, with a knife and wooden baseball bat inside their 207 E. Main St. residence.
The mother fled the residence for a neighboring property.
She had been stabbed multiple times and beaten with a wooden baseball bat and those injuries proved fatal.
The suspect fled the area and was later located 10 miles away at a residence north of St. Paris.
His defense team has indicated in court that the suspect will plead guilty to murder.
He has been lodged in the Logan County Juvenile Detention Center since his arrest.
