Lynn DiLoreto, nurse volunteer for the Logan County Health District, administers the first of two doses of PfizerBioNTech COVID-19 vaccine to city resident Yvette Hunsicker Saturday morning at the LCHD building, 310 S. Main St. Hunsicker, vice president of Honda’s Office of Inclusion and Diversity and Human Resources, was among 360 people who scheduled an appointment to get the vaccine at the health district Saturday. Some 120 individuals also had vaccination appointments at the Mary Rutan Hospital Urgent Care facility, 1134 N. Main St. Those receiving the Pfizer vaccine are provided with a vaccination card and have a follow-up appointment for the second shot scheduled three weeks after the first. As of Thursday, about 18.1 percent of the population — 8,266 people — had started the vaccination process in Logan County, according to the state’s online COVID dashboard. People age 40 and older are now eligible to receive the vaccine and the age requirement will be lowered to 16 and up starting March 29. The health district transitioned to using the state’s online vaccination appointment scheduling system earlier this month. Visit loganhealth.org/covid-19-vaccination to schedule an appointment.
