Brandy R. Lile, 41, of Lima, was charged with possession of cocaine and possession of methamphetamine during a Thursday afternoon traffic stop.
Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office on patrol in the area of State Route 117 and County Road 96 about 1:05 p.m. observed a vehicle with a suspended license and initiated a traffic stop.
The male driver told deputies he did not have a valid license, and the passenger, Lile, said she had forgotten to renew the tags for the vehicle.
Lile and the driver were asked to step out of the vehicle.
K9 Thor conducted a free air sniff around the exterior of the vehicle. After the canine alerted on the vehicle, deputies conducted a probable cause search, where they recovered several items inside Lile’s purse: a meth pipe with residue, a container with two baggies with different substances inside. Lile told deputies that the substances were “meth and cocaine.”
Also during the search, deputies recovered a digital scale with a white powdery residue in the passenger door panel and another meth pipe on the passenger seat.
Lile was placed under arrest and transported to the Logan County Jail, and the driver was released from the scene.
At the sheriff’s office, the substances tested positive for methamphetamine and cocaine.
Officers of the Washington Township Police Department and the Adult Parole Authority also assisted at the scene.
• Tyler H. Ashbrook, 29, of Fremont, Ind., was charged with possession of methamphetamine as a result of a traffic stop Saturday afternoon.
Deputies received a report of a possible impaired driver about 2 p.m. in the area of State Route 117 near the Hardin and Logan County line. The caller stated the motorist was failing to maintain his lane of travel and nearly caused several accidents.
The caller said the vehicle pulled into the Huntsville Marathon gas station, 6990 Lima St., Huntsville, and deputies were able to locate the suspect vehicle there.
Upon arrival, deputies said the driver, later identified as Ashbrook, was seated in the vehicle and had his head down, nearly asleep. They also stated that he had Pokémon cards all over his lap, in his hands and in the passenger seat.
He was asked to step out of the vehicle, and deputies noted that his actions were sluggish and his eyes were bloodshot. A pat down search was performed and deputies recovered a clear baggie containing a white powder substance from his pocket, which later field-tested positive for meth.
Deputies also conducted a probably cause search of the vehicle, recovering two prescription pills, a baggie with a clear crystal-like substance consistent with crystal meth and a piece of foil with burn marks.
The defendant was placed under arrest and transported to the jail.
