Catalytic converter thefts from school parking lot part of investigation
A Belle Center man has been arrested for several counts of felony theft, vandalism and possession of criminal tools related to the theft of catalytic converters from vehicles parked at Indian Lake Schools and other theft-related offenses in Logan and Hardin counties.
Kameron Montgomery, 26, was lodged in the Logan County Jail Thursday following several weeks of investigation by officers of the Washington Township Police Department. Additional charges are pending for Montgomery, as well as other suspects involved in the thefts.
A number of agencies assisted in the investigation, including the Logan County Unified Drug Task Force, Logan County Sheriff’s Office, Hardin County Sheriff’s Office, Kenton Police Department and Ada Police Department.
About 9 a.m. Thursday, Montgomery was located around in Kenton and a traffic stop was initiated by the Hardin County Sheriff’s Office.
During their investigation, catalytic converters were recovered from the vehicle Montgomery was driving. The catalytic converters had recently been stolen from vehicles in Hardin County.
Officers from the Washington Township Police Department interviewed the individuals involved in the traffic stop and were able to link the thefts in the Indian Lake Schools parking lot to Montgomery, according to a release.
