Zachary R. Barnes, 14, of 173 N. Dean St., West Mansfield, was charged with persistent disorderly conduct Wednesday after he reportedly walked away from Benjamin Logan Middle School.
Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office responded to the school shortly before 2 p.m. on a report that Zachary had walked away from the school. Deputies, school officials, family and friends checked the area.
The teen was located by his father walking in a field near State Route 292 and County Road 20. His father transported him back to the middle school to meet with deputies.
Zachary admitted to deputies that he was attempting to walk to Fostoria. After conferring with the child’s father, he was placed under arrest and transported to the JDC.
Summons issued for littering
Chasity L. Cook of Sidney was issued a summons for littering Wednesday following a trash dumping complaint.
Employees from the Logan County Solid Waste Management District had recovered several bags of trash along Township Road 217, and notified deputies Tuesday morning. Deputies were able to recover personal information from the trash and identified a suspect.
Ms. Cook denied knowledge of how the trash was removed from her former residence at 122 N. Park St., Bellefontaine, and then dumped along T.R. 217.
Vandalism complaint investigated
Tabitha Watson, 7445 Walnut St., North Fork, Belle Center, reported today that a pickup at her residence was damaged after someone threw a brick through the window of the vehicle.
About 3 a.m., she observed a suspicious vehicle parked near State Route 117 and saw someone enter the vehicle and leave the area. Then she discovered the damage to the pickup window.
