COVID-19 didn’t stop Billie Jo O’Brien from reaching out to students and businesses to implement a rewards program that would have normally been in place to recognize Benjamin Logan Middle School students for achieving their Straight A Club status for the third grading period.
The BLMS Straight A Club Advisor recently embarked on a pizza delivering journey to middle school Straight A club students in collaboration with local pizza restaurants.
The first day was supported from Pop’s Pizza Parlor in East Liberty, with deliveries to the East Liberty/Middleburg area students, which included: Micah Ackley, Bre Allen, Celeste Allen, Wyatt Blackburn, Ella Chamberlain, Grace Francis, Kate Gulick, Charley Hardman, Izzy Henderson, Abby Henry, Madeline Herring, Lilly Kelley, Joseph Meeker, Rylan Norviel, Cassidy Rhoades, Addison Scott, Taavo Simovart, Madison Watkins, Holden Zehner, Landon Zehner, and, Joslin Wilber.
The next day, O’Brien continued the journey with delivery of 25 pizzas to students who live in the Zanesfield/Bellefontaine area with the support of Firehouse Pizza and Subs in Zanesfield. Those student honorees were: Hayden Alexander, Winnie Bodin, Cason Bothel, Natalie Chapman, Maximus Clapsaddle, Holly Coaty, Scarlett Elliott, Wyatt Gordon, Kate Hahn, Eric Hughes, Lorali Klopfenstein, Caleb Knight, Kameron Lockwood, Ashley Peters, Joseph Queen, Hayden Smith, Sadie Staats, Graham Studebaker, Liam Sweeney, Rachel Tappendorf, Abigail Vance, Dylan Vance, Shelby Watkins, Cora Watson and Estella Wenger.
Nineteen pizzas were delivered to Straight A club students in the West Mansfield area with the help of Padrone’s of West Mansfield. Those students included Livi Achor, Hunter Andrix, Georgia Bates, Jaxon Bowman, Mya Burrey, Everett Clapsaddle, Kyndal Cronkleton, Hayden Godwin, Hailey Kennedy, Lauren Kennedy, Lilly Kerns, Bailey Lewis, Morgan Schearer, Josie Sexstone, Mia Stahler, Aulden Thomas, Ethan VanWinkle, Evelyn VanWinkle and Kate Workman.
Michael Angelo’s Pizza in Rushsylvania provided support for the project to 20 students in Rushsylvania, where pizzas were awarded to Leina Brunson, Ethan Carpenter, Evan Carpenter, Miah Defibaugh, Kaiden Green, Adilynne Gregg, Wyatt LeVan, Delaney Miracle, Joel Mitchell, Bryden Morris, Brooks Myers, Hannah Phillips, Lily Rudolph, Tyler Shoopman, Jocelyn Shump, Madyson Spence, Keaton Varner, Peyton Vermillion, Greysie Wagoner and Makayla Williamson.
The trek was completed April 27, with the final 25 pizzas being delivered to the students in the Belle Center area, with assistance from House Pizza in Belle Center. The rewards went to Haley Bradley, Madelyn Daniels, Taytum Daniels, Alyson Fay, Kelley Forsythe, Madelyn Harmon, Trinity Helton, Lauren Hemmelgarn, Lydia Johnson, Jacey Koehler, Kensley Lacher, Ava Liles, Isabella Lowe, Skylar Miracle, Addison Murphy, Skylar Nixon, Tanner Nixon, Jaylyn Parker, Kaitlin Phillips, Zhoe Seeley, Tristan Sheets, Caroline Spriggs, Noah Stanford, Jerrik Stephens and Emily Williams.
In total, O’Brien said more than 100 pizza rewards were delivered to the middle school Straight A Club students. She organized the project in conjunction with the local businesses, who offered help with coordination and discounts.
“This project has been my favorite of the shutdown. Great idea. Thanks so much for doing it,” parent Beth Gulick said via social media.
