Benjamin Logan’s softball team couldn’t stop a late scoring surge by visiting Jonathan Alder Friday in a 10-0 loss in five innings during Central Buckeye Conference crossover action.
The Raiders drop to 12-5 overall and 6-5 in the CBC. The Pioneers, who are ranked second in the Division II state poll, improve to 13-1, 10-0.
Ben Logan held Alder scoreless through the first two innings, but the Pioneers broke through for three runs in the third inning. They added one more run in the fourth inning for a 4-0 lead. Jonathan Alder found a spark in the fifth inning and piled up six more runs for a 10-0 advantage. The Raiders were unable to prevent the run-rule victory in the bottom of the frame.
Ben Logan’s offense was limited to just two hits which came from Brook Myers and Kyah Moore.
Marlee Jacobs recorded the win in the pitching circle for Jonathan Alder with six strikeouts.
Ben Logan hosts Wapakoneta today in a non-league doubleheader.

Pirates blitz Jets
An 11-run first inning helped send Riverside’s softball team past host Fairlawn 19-0 in five innings Friday during a non-league game.
The Pirates improve to 8-9 on the season.
Riverside piled up 11 runs in the first inning and plated five more in the second inning for a quick 16-0 lead. The Pirates added two runs in the third inning and one run in the fourth inning.
Jenna Woods fired a one-hitter to earn the win for Riverside in the pitching circle with eight strikeouts. Offensively, Woods wen t2-3 with a double and four RBI.
Also for the Pirates, Alaina Snow went 4-4 with a home run, two doubles and four RBI, Malaina Kreglow hit a home run with two RBI, Jade Copas went 2-4 with a double and two RBI, Sierra Snow went 3-3 with four RBI, Kylee Angle went 2-3 and Olivia Perk had two RBI.
Riverside hosts Elgin on Monday for Northwest Central Conference action.

Wildcats zap Chiefs
Bellefontaine’s softball team gritted its teeth, but came up short in a 3-0 loss to visiting North Union on Friday in Central Buckeye Conference action at Blue Jacket Park.
The Chieftains slide to 7-8 on the season and 3-6 in the CBC, while the Wildcats move to 12-4, 6-3.
North Union scored one run in the fourth inning for a 1-0 lead. The Wildcats scored two runs in the top of the seventh inning for a 3-0 score and were able to hold off the Chiefs in the bottom of the frame.
Rianna Fullerton and Averie Vigansky each had a hit for the Chiefs.
Bellefontaine travels to London today for a CBC makeup game.

Indian Lake’s softball team came up short in a 5-2 loss to host Tecumseh on Friday during Central Buckeye Conference crossover action.
The Lakers drop their record to 10-8 overall and 3-7 in the CBC Mad River. The Arrows move to 6-9, 3-7.
Tecumseh chipped away to build a 4-0 lead after four innings.
Indian Lake drove in their two runs in the top of the fifth inning to trail 4-2. The Arrows responded with another run in the bottom of the fifth for a 5-2 score and kept the Lakers from scoring again.
Haylee Edwards led Indian Lake at the plate by going 3-4 with an RBI and Katie Roby had one RBI.
Indian Lake hosts Urbana on Monday for a CBC Mad River game.

Tigers fall to Indians
West Liberty-Salem’s softball team had no answer for state-ranked Mechanicsburg in a 22-0 loss in five innings Friday during Ohio Heritage Conference play.
The Tigers fall to 9-8 overall and 7-4 in the OHC. The Indians, who are ranked third in the Division III state poll, improve to 14-3, 11-0.
M’burg led 8-0 after two innings and scored three runs in the third inning for an 11-0 score. The Indians put the game away for good with an 11-run burst in the fourth inning.
The Tigers were held to just two hits on offense.
WL-Salem travels to Newton today for two games.

Triad’s softball team couldn’t get past visiting West Jefferson on Friday in a 3-1 Ohio Heritage Conference loss.
The Cardinals drop their record to 7-11 on the season and 5-5 in the league.
Each team scored a run in the first inning for a 1-1 tie. West Jefferson managed to plate two runs in the sixth inning for a 3-1 lead and held on in the seventh inning.
Offensively, Lilly Greene led the Cardinals going 2-3 with a double.
Triad travels to Mechancisburg on Monday for more OHC action.
