Triad’s boys basketball team saw host Springfield Catholic Central surge in the second half Friday to run away with a 53-39 Ohio Heritage Conference victory.
The Cardinals fall to 1-11 overall and 0-9 in the OHC standings, while the Irish improve to 3-12, 2-8.
Catholic Central held a one-point lead over Triad (11-10) at the end of the first quarter.
The Irish outscored the Cardinals in the second quarter 11-7 for a 26-22 lead at halftime.
The momentum was dominated by Catholic Central for much of the second half. The Irish went on an 18-9 run in the third quarter to make it a 40-26 SCC advantage.
SCC maintained a double-digit lead throughout the final period.
Dillon Nott and Batai Lease led the Cardinals with 12 points each and Drew Campbell had eight points.
In junior varsity action, SCC defeated Triad 51-46. Blake Thornhill paced the Cardinals with 10 points.
Triad hosts Fairlawn on Tuesday for a non-league game.
