Bellefontaine’s girls track and field team gave a dominating performance Friday on its way to winning the Franklin Invitational, while the boys team also fared well with a second- place effort.
The Chieftain girls won 12 of 17 events to score 180 points.
Madison was second with 63 points and Edgewood was third with 46.5 points.
Host Franklin claimed the boys meet with 96 points, Bellefontaine had 82 points and Edgewood was third with 66 points.
“We took advantage of the beautiful, crisp, cool weather,” said BHS head coach Ben Davis.
“We had many first-year runners who gained varsity experience in an invitational setting. It was a dominating performance by our girls. We were missing a couple cogs in the wheel on the boys side, but the effort was solid.”
