Stakes are high for Tigers in matchup with WJ

With just two games left in the regular season, West Liberty-Salem needs a win Friday to help secure hopes of a state playoff berth and an Ohio Heritage Conference title.

The Tigers (7-1, 5-1) would get a major boost in both areas if they can knock off visiting West Jefferson (7-0, 6-0) at 7 p.m. Friday in a key meeting for both teams.

WL-Salem is currently eighth in Division VI, Region 24, and need a win over the Roughriders to solidify their playoff standing.

“This game is very important in terms of playoff and league title implications,” said WL-Salem head coach Dan McGill. “We try to simply focus on the task at hand and let the other things take care of themselves, though.”
