Being an All-American is a title Heath Lange has craved since he stepped foot on a college wrestling mat. Now, the Indian Lake graduate can officially claim that honor after placing eighth at the NCAA Division II national wrestling tournament.

Lange, a redshirt sophomore at the University of Indianapolis, placed eighth at 157 pounds Saturday in Birmingham, Ala. It was his first trip to the national tournament.
A two-time state placer for the Lakers, Lange has found a lot of success on the wrestling mat. Continuing to find success at the next level and payoff for his hard work is what drove Lange to his latest accomplishment.
“It means a lot to me because I finally have the title that goes along with my lifestyle,” said Lange. “I train like an All-American, I sacrifice a lot and I get myself away from all the distractions.
“It was also special because it was a cumulative effort from so many people throughout my career that made it possible and I’m really blessed to have all of those people.”
