Ben Logan boys win their division at CBC preseason tourney


Chieftains take second on Kenton Trail side

Benjamin Logan’s boys golf team turned in a strong showing Friday at Reid Park North in Springfield to win the Mad River division in the Central Buckeye Conference preseason tournament.

The Raiders shot a 355 to easily beat second-place Northwestern (385). Greenon took third (393), Urbana was fourth (397), Graham took fifth (430) and Indian Lake was sixth (475).

Grant Ricketts led the Raiders with a 74, which was the low round of the tournament. Ricketts eagled the par-5 sixth hole to highlight his round.

Also for the Raiders, T.J. Fink shot 88, Tanner Rader had a 96, Mitchell Fink had a 97 and Brady Bechtel and Colin Headings added 104s.

For the Ben Logan junior varsity team, Will Kenoyer led with a nine-hole total of 47. Connor Stewart had a 55, holing out from 68 yards on the second hole for his first birdie. Jared Sater also shot 55, Justin Watkins had a 56 and Tyler Smith had 57.

On the Kenton Trail division side, Bellefontaine shot 346 to finish second behind Tippecanoe (329). Springfield Shawnee was third with 347, Kenton Ridge had a 370, Tecumseh shot 388 and Stebbins had 414.

Connor Adelsberger led the Chiefs with an 81. He was followed by Nate Langenfeld with an 85, Jarrett Beck with an 89, Nicklaus Lyons with a 91, Hunter Karg with a 97 and Devin Fowler with a 97.

For the Chieftain reserves, Turner Scott shot a nine-hole total of 41, Connor Burton had a 46, Zach Reames shot 50, Tarrin Breaston had 52, Josiah Jester shot 53 and Derek Markley had a 55.

“We are happy with a second-place finish in our opening tournament, but certainly feel our scores could have been better,” said BHS head coach Jason Steider.

Individual scores for Indian Lake were not available by deadline.

Ben Logan will host their annual tournament Monday at Liberty Hills Golf Club.
