Cotner leaves Raiders to take position at Jerome

As the 2014 prep football season draws near, Benjamin Logan is suddenly without a head coach.

Carleton Cotner informed his players Tuesday evening that he is stepping down after seven seasons at the helm to take an assistant position at Dublin Jerome.

“It was a very difficult decision and it was something that happened very quickly,” said Cotner. “Over the past year or so, I have been looking toward the future. I felt like in the next couple of years, it would be a good time for me to step back from being a head coach and take a coordinator position somewhere.

“My kids are growing up and they are involved in a lot of activities and I am working on getting my administrator’s license. With all of those things going on, it was time for me to make a change.”

Cotner went 26-44 with the Raiders. He had two winning seasons, a 7-3 campaign in 2010 and a 6-4 mark in 2011. He led the Raiders to a Central Buckeye Conference Mad River division co-championship during the 2010 season.
