The Cougars move to 14-1 overall and 8-1 in the CBC Kenton Trail division, while the Chiefs fall to 6-8, 3-4.

“We had a couple of mistakes early on and never could climb out of the hole,” said BHS head coach Katie Buffkin.

Kenton Ridge scored three runs in the first inning and added five runs in the second inning to take an 8-0 advantage. The Cougars tacked on four more runs in the top of the fifth inning to earn the run-rule victory.

The Cougars’ Courtney Lopez tossed a one-hitter to earn the win in the pitching circle.
