Lady Chieftains fall to Piqua in rain-shortened tennis match

Bellefontaine’s girls tennis squad lost to visiting Piqua 3-0 in a rain-shortened match Tuesday afternoon.

The Chiefs are now 1-1 on the season. Piqua won at second and third singles and first doubles to lock up its victory. The first singles and second doubles matches were still in progress when rain halted the action.

“Piqua is a pretty good team,” said Bellefontaine head coach Jim Stein. “They have everybody back from last year and they added a good singles player. I thought we played well at times. We just have to be ready to go on all cylinders from the start.”
