An RBI double by Zack Glock in the top of the 10th inning provided the eventual gamewinning run as West Liberty-Salem pulled out a dramatic 1-0 victory over host Miami East in a Division III sectional tournament opener Tuesday.
The 16th-seeded Tigers are now 10-14 on the season and advance to play sixth-seeded Greenon in the second round today at Greenon.
It was a pitching battle throughout as each team mustered just four hits.
Trevor Woodruff allowed two hits, four walks and struck out three in 7 2/3 innings for the Tigers, while Nick Burden allowed two hits, struck out five and walked four.
“Both pitchers held their own and pitched out of trouble all night long,” said WL-Salem head coach Jon Payer.
