Riverside softball jolts Waynesfield-Goshen 23-1 in five innings

Riverside’s softball team was in full force Tuesday as it overwhelmed host Waynesfield-Goshen for a 23-1 win in five innings during Northwest Central Conference play.

The Pirates increase their record to 11-4 on the season.

It was domination from the start as Riverside drove in 12 runs in the first inning. The Pirates continued to score in droves with five runs in the second inning and six runs in the third inning.

Shelby Giles pitched four innings to earn the win and combined with Jalynn Stanley for a one-hitter.

Offensively, Stanley dominated at the plate. She went 4-4 with a grand slam, a home run, a double and eight RBI. Giles was also a force with the bat, going 3-4 with a home run, a double and three RBI.
