Pirates can’t get on track in loss to Russia

Riverside’s baseball team was unable to get its offense going against host Russia on Thursday as the Raiders rolled to a 10-0 win in five innings.

The Pirates drop to 2-9 on the season.

Russia pitcher Daniel Kerns fired a two-hitter to help keep Riverside off the scoreboard. Russia jumped on the scoreboard early with three runs in the first inning and one run in the second inning for a 4-0 lead.

The Raiders extended their lead with four runs in the third inning and two runs in the fourth inning for a 10-0 cushion.
