Carroll claims Lewis Memorial title at Shady Bowl Speedway

Despite a cold night for racing, fans filled the stands for the Bill Lewis Memorial on Saturday at Shady Bowl Speedway.

Lewis was a car owner from Dayton who fielded cars for 50 years with some of best area drivers behind the wheel. When the dust had settled in the 40-lap modified feature Saturday, it was Mike Carroll of Dayton claming the first-place spot.

Carroll powered his machine into the lead on lap 16 and never looked back. Brad Williams made several attempts to get by, but had to settle for second. Greg Stapleton finished third, Joe Pequignot was fourth and Buddy Townsend took fifth. Shane Shirk set quick time, with Buddy Townsend taking the dash and Greg Winget the heat.
