Thomas R. Hoskins, 38, of 1154 S. Main St., was charged Wednesday with two counts of domestic violence.
Officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department responded to the area of Ingalls Avenue and Main around 10:10 p.m. to investigate a report of a motorcyclists operating his machine in excess of 40 mph.
The motorcycle was located at Hoskins’ residence. As an officer exited his cruiser, Linda Hoskins ran from the front porch to tell the officer her brother was assaulting their mother inside the residence.
Della Hoskins was found outside with facial injuries as more officers arrived on scene. She told officers she was struck when she tried to stop her son from assaulting her boyfriend, Henry Hatfield.
The suspect allegedly hit Hatfield with his motorcycle helmet. Hatfield was struck in the area of his left eye. He was transported by a Bellefontaine squad to Mary Rutan Hospital for treatment.
The suspect also had facial injuries and said his mother and sister struck him.
Arrest reports noted the suspect has prior domestic violence convictions.
He was lodged in the Logan County Jail.
Woman faces unclean habitation charge
Susan E. Salyer-German, 27, of 408 E. Lake Ave., was issued a summons for unclean habitation Tuesday after officers acted on a tip concerning the wellbeing of the woman’s four-year-old daughter.
Officers were allowed into the residence around 8:40 p.m. and found cat feces and trash throughout the living room and kitchen. The girl was found eating her dinner while sitting on the couch and surrounded by trash.
It was noted the odor of feces, cat urine and trash could be detected outside the residence.
A representative of the Logan County Children’s Services was called to the scene and she took a brief look inside before exiting the residence.
The child was placed with her material grandmother for the night.
