More than 200 children and adults laced up their skates Wednesday night at the Indian Lake Rollarena in Russells Point, raising some $800 for the Logan County Neighborhood Outreach centers. The centers in the Riverside, Chippewa, Russells Point and Western Bellefontaine areas offer after-school activities, homework help and general guidance to hundreds of children. The rink hosts the Russells Point Police Department’s first Safe Skate Night from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, April 11, with units from county police, fire and emergency responders and a balloon launch kicking off National Crime Victim’s Week. Skating goes to the dogs during an April 24 skate to raise funds for the Top of Ohio Pet Shelter, with pet adoption opportunities on site. (EXAMINER PHOTO | RICK PITTS)
