SIDNEY — Officers of the Sidney Police Department are searching for a suspect related to an assault that sent a 16-year-old boy to the hospital Saturday.
Police have identified the suspect as Johnny L. Harness, 31, of Sidney, and have issued a felonious assault warrant for his arrest.
Officers also have issued a felony obstructing justice warrant for his live-in girlfriend, Samantha Rivera, 24, who reportedly provided misleading information to officers.
About 6 p.m. Saturday, a verbal exchange reportedly occurred between two juveniles and Mr. Harness in the 200 block of north West Avenue. When the juveniles reached the intersection of North Street, the defendant reportedly ran across the street and punched the 16-year-old boy, knocking him to the ground and unconscious.
As a result of the assault, the victim was transported to Wilson Health, and then was transferred by CareFlight helicopter to Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton.
