Triad’s girls basketball team could not hold onto the lead in the second half Wednesday as Springfield Shawnee rallied for a 35-31 win in non-league play.
The Cardinals slide to 2-8 on the season, while the Braves bump their record to 5-7.
Shawnee held an 11-9 lead to end the opening quarter, but saw Triad go on a 13-7 run in the second quarter. That left the Cardinals holding a 22-18 halftime lead.
The Braves jumped back in front during the third quarter. They went on an 11-5 run to grab a 29-27 advantage. Shawnee then held off Triad in the fourth quarter with a 6-4 effort.
Frani LeVan led Triad’s efforts with 14 points, Cati Levan tallied 10 points with 11 rebounds and eight steals and Abby Walls added eight rebounds.
Triad is back on the court today at home against Cedarville.
