Wesley Giles, 20, of Columbus, remained hospitalized Monday afternoon in the trauma unit at OSU Wexner Medical Center in Columbus for life-threatening injuries sustained in a two-vehicle crash Sunday on eastbound U.S. Route 33 in the area of State Route 4, Union County Sheriff’s Office deputies report. The second vehicle was a pickup truck occupied by three Logan County residents, including one who remained hospitalized Monday, sources tell the Examiner. Gary Campbell of Harrison Township was listed today as a patient at Memorial Hospital of Union County, Marysville, while Anthony Bernard, 36, of Bellefontaine, sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene, deputies report. Jeremy Gildow is the owner and final occupant of the pickup, sources say. Information from the sheriff’s office is potentially inaccurate regarding who was operating the Gildow pickup and administrators were not available Monday to clarify an initial report. Deputies report Mr. Giles was westbound in a car on U.S. 33 about 12:40 p.m. and crossed the median into the eastbound lanes. The car struck the pickup in a head-on collision. The crash remains under investigation by the Multi-County Crash Investigation Team, which is comprised of sheriff’s deputies from Union, Champaign, Logan and Hardin counties. There were two passengers in the pickup truck, but a sheriff’s office spokesperson had no information on them. The Marysville Police Department, Ohio State Highway Patrol and Marysville Fire Department assisted at the scene. (PHOTOS | UNION COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE)
