The community is invited to a send-off ceremony and law enforcement torch run starting at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 31, at the Bellefontaine High School track for Special Olympics USA Games cheer team athlete Sheena Braun.
The Logan County Braves also are attending the Special Olympics USA Games in Orlando, Fla., to support Braun. She was selected to represent Team Ohio at the USA Games in Orlando from June 5-12.
This is also the first cheer team from Ohio to ever participate in Special Olympics USA Games.
“We would like to thank the Logan County community for supporting Sheena and her fellow athletes to be able to go and support Sheena in her journey and enjoy the experience of the USA Games,” Logan County Braves representatives said.
“Sheena is so very excited to represent Logan County and Team Ohio and is very grateful for everyone’s support.”
The USA Games Opening Ceremony featuring Braun and Team Ohio will be broadcast at noon Sunday, June 5, on ABC, WatchESPN and the ESPN App.
Law Enforcement Torch Run participants also are preparing for the State Summer Games, slated for June 24-26 at The Ohio State University.
Following the send-off ceremony, the Logan County Braves hosts Champaign County for a Braves Relay Track Event.
