Charles Jackson, 58, of 616 S. Main St., Bellefontaine, was charged with possession of methamphetamine and possession of psylocibin during a traffic stop about 6:50 p.m. Sunday.
Officers of the Russells Point Police Department conducted a stop with his vehicle on High Avenue at Aiken Street for a moving violation. Prior to the stop, officers said he had pulled into a driveway on High Avenue and quickly exited his vehicle.
Officers noticed that he was sweating profusely and extremely nervous. Jackson admitted to having marijuana inside his vehicle, prompting a search.
During the vehicle search, officers recovered a plastic bag containing suspected methamphetamine, Officers also seized a cat treat bag containing psylocibin (mushrooms).
The defendant was placed under arrest and lodged into Logan County Jail. Officers of the Washington Township Police Department assisted at the scene. The case has also been forwarded to Logan County Prosecutor’s Office.
Woman lodged for trafficking in drugs
Jennifer Titus, 35, of Dayton, was charged with child endangering, possession of a controlled substance and trafficking in drugs during a traffic stop about 1:20 a.m. Sunday.
Officers on patrol in the area of U.S. Route 33 and Clermont Avenue conducted the stop for an equipment violation, as her vehicle had a headlight out.
While speaking with Titus, officers noticed signs of drug use. She eventually admitted to having heroin inside her purse. A probable cause search was conducted. Officers located several baggies containing a white powdery substance in her purse, a meth pipe, suspected methamphetamine and several other scheduled drugs inside the center console.
Titus’ 9-year-old son was a passenger in the vehicle. The defendant was placed under arrest and lodged in the jail.
Deputies of the Logan County Sheriffs Office assisted at the scene. The case has been sent to Logan County Prosecutor’s Office.
