Warren Shockey piled up 15 strikeouts and allowed only one hit to lead Riverside to an 8-0 victory over host Upper Scioto Valley in Northwest Central Conference baseball action Friday.
The Pirates are now 4-4 overall and 2-0 in the NWCC.
Shockey absolutely dominated the Rams. He allowed just one hit and one walk in six innings of work.
Zander Crouch finished off the Rams with a hitless inning that included three strikeouts.
It was a tight game early and then Riverside pulled away in the later innings.
The Pirates scored one run in the first and another in the fourth for a 2-0 lead.
Riverside then plated four runs in the fifth inning to lead 6-0.
The Pirates tacked on two insurance runs in the sixth.
Kale Long had a pair of RBI to pace Riverside’s offense. Landon Stewart, Crouch and Brody Rhoads each added one RBI.
Riverside returns to action Monday at home against Lehman Catholic.
