Riverside’s volleyball team bounced host Ridgemont in three sets on Thursday by scores of 25-12, 25-13, 25-13 for a Northwest Central Conference victory.
The Pirates improve their record to 3-0 on the season.
Jenna Woods led Riverside with 12 kills and five blocks, Lauryn Sanford tallied seven kills, 12 assists, six digs and five blocks, Alaina Snow had five kills, Sierra Snow piled up 24 assists and Allison Knight recorded 13 digs.
Riverside travels to Troy Christian on Saturday for a non-league match.
WL-Salem takes down Fairbanks
West Liberty-Salem’s volleyball team fought past visiting Fairbanks for a three-set win Thursday 26-24, 25-21, 25-14 in Ohio Heritage Conference action.
The win moves the Tigers to 2-0 on the season.
Michele Smith sparked WL-Salem with 11 kills, 12 digs, was 6-8 serving and 17-18 serve receive, Gabby Williams tallied 25 assists, three aces, one kill, was 8-9 serving and was 80-80 setting, Ally Garver recorded 13 digs, was 17-17 serving and was 9-10 serve receive, Bailey Poppe had seven kills, eight digs, one ace and was 17-17 serving, Chaley Wade had five kills, two digs and a block, Olivia Wilcox recorded 16 digs, was 7-7 serving and 14-17 serve receive and Naomi McGill had six digs, one ace and was 16-16 serving.
Fairbanks won the junior varsity match over WL-Salem 25-12, 25-14.
Aubrey Laing led the Tigers with three kills, Lexy Lee had two kills and was 3-3 serving, Makenna Smith had eight digs and was 6-7 serving, Isabelle Meister had six assists and was 4-4 serving and Whitney Strapp was 4-4 serving.
WL-Salem travels to Graham on Saturday.
Ben Logan falls to Findlay
Benjamin Logan’s volleyball team tried to scrape together a comeback against host Findlay on Wednesday night, but fell in straight sets 25-15, 25-23, 28-26 in a non-league contest.
The Raiders are now 1-1 on the season.
Lily Makin led Ben Logan with 10 points, four aces, three assists and was 15-15 serving, Jordan Sexstone tallied nine digs, Lynzee Cronkleton dished out 15 assists and had nine digs, Kylie Frazier had 10 kills and eight assists, Molly Vance recorded six kills and Ryelle Gibson added five kills and four blocks.
The junior varsity “black” team defeated the Trojans in three sets to improve to 2-0. Elliott Bailey led the Raiders with 12 p lints and 12 digs, Brielle Moorhouse had eight kills, eight assists and was 9-9 hitting, Macy Matthews tallied nine kills, Lauren Dixon posted 16 assists and Haleigh Brentlinger added four kills.
Ben Logan’s junior varsity “gold” team lost to Findlay. Maven Rhoades had seven points and was 10-10 serving, Madison Buettner had five points, two aces, seven digs and was 8-9 serving, Junette Ly had seven digs, Lexi Sutherly had three kills and Madelyn Harmon tallied six assists.
Ben Logan hosts Ada on Monday for its first home match of the season.
