Riverside Schools Board of Education members made quick work of a light agenda at their Tuesday evening meeting, including extending a five-year executive contract to Superintendent Dr. Scott Mann, who has served in his current role for 10 years.
His new contract begins Aug. 1, 2023, and continues through July 31, 2028. Mann’s new salary was set at $121,750 per year.
“You’ve done great things for our school district,” Board President Dr. Bradley Adams said. “This is our vote of confidence for you. We appreciate your dedication.”
“I’m very happy to work for Riverside, continuing into the future,” said Mann, who has served with the district a total of 13 years, with his first years spent as a principal.
During the 2022 organizational session that proceeded the regular monthly meeting, Treasurer Ronnie Fitchpatrick administered oaths of office to returning members Janet Siders and Mark Zumberger for new terms. Fellow member Joel Snow also is beginning a new term, but was absent from the meeting.
Members re-elected Dr. Adams as board president, and also re-elected Siders as vice president.
The board will meet at 6 p.m. on the third Tuesday of each month, except for December, with the meeting planned for Dec. 13.
Mann also expressed appreciation to each of the board members, which also includes member Blaine Dixon, for their commitment to the district in honor of National School
Board Recognition Month.
In other action, the board:
• approved the early graduation of student Hayden William Wren;
• approved up to 20 board meeting days to be conducted per year; and
• appointed the superintendent as the purchasing agent for the district and the suspension appeals/expulsion hearing officer; and the treasurer as the investment officer; along with a number of standing authorizations for the superintendent and treasurer.
The next meeting is 6 p.m Tuesday, Feb. 15, at the school library.
