Botkins’ boys basketball team got the better of Riverside for the second time this season as the Trojans pulled out a 40-39 win Saturday in Division IV sectional tournament action at Piqua High School.
The 10th-seeded Trojans had edged the eighth-seeded Pirates 46-41 during a regular-season contest.
“This game was really a battle,” said RHS head coach Seth Bodenmiller. “Both teams played extremely hard for all four quarters. At the end, Botkins just made one more play than we did.
“I cannot thank my seniors enough for the effort they gave this year to build upon the foundation that we set last year. Obviously, it’s hard when you lose a close game, and even harder when it’s your last game of the year.”
