Riverside’s state-ranked volleyball team continued to roll Saturday as it dropped Botkins in three sets 25-18, 25-17, 25-21 in a Division IV sectional semifinal at Covington High School.
The fifth-seeded Pirates (21-2), who are tied for 14th in the latest state poll, move on to face fourth-seeded Tri-Village (19-4) Tuesday at Covington in a sectional final at 8 p.m. The 13th-seeded Trojans finish the season at 4-16.
Lauryn Sanford sparked Riverside’s attack Saturday with 16 kills, 10 digs, 10 assists and four blocks, Jenna Woods tallied 12 kills, seven digs and nine blocks, Allison Knight had 17 digs, Hailee Harshbarger tallied nine digs, Sierra Snow recorded nine assists and three digs, Jade Copas had two kills and six digs, Olivia Perk posted three kills, two digs and three blocks. West Liberty-Salem’s volleyball team made quick work of Bethel with a three-set victory Saturday 25-15, 25-15, 25-10 during a Division III sectional semifinal match at Brookville High School.
The fourth-seeded Tigers (14-9) now face sixth-seeded Arcanum (12-7) Wednesday at Brookville in a sectional final at 6 p.m. The 16th-seeded Bees end their season at 5-17.
Bailey Poppe paced WL-Salem with seven kills, five aces, six digs, one block, was 13-16 serving and 8-9 serves received, Gabby Williams had 27 assists, four kills, one ace, five digs and was 4-5 serving, Michele Smith tallied eight kills, three aces, 11 digs, was 12-13 serving and 9-9 serves received, Aleah Reed had seven kills, four aces and a block, Leah Ropp had three kills, five aces, two digs, one block and was 26-27 serves received, Chaley Wade had six kills and a block and Ally Garver added 16 digs, one ace, was 9-10 serving and 8-9 serves received.
