Ridgemont Superintendent Sally Henrick took the time at the recent board of education meeting to express appreciation to district students, parents, staff and also substitutes who have stepped up to make in-person schooling a possibility this fall.
“While I realize that this is a very stressful time for everyone, I want to thank our parents, staff and students for your cooperation, understanding and flexibility,” she said.
“I also want to thank our teacher substitutes and classified substitutes for coming in and helping us. The teamwork in this district is what has gotten us through these challenging times as we continue to educate students at Ridgemont.”
“This time of year when we stop and think of all that we are grateful for, and we are thankful for all of you.”
She also noted that starting this month, all Wednesday early releases are at 1 p.m. until further notice.
The superintendent said all updates for parents regarding any changes to school district will continue to be provided via the district’s social media and website at https://www.ridgemont.k12.oh.us/Ridgemont20-21Restart-ReopenResources.aspx.
Members passed a resolution to endorse the fair school funding plan, as introduced in the senate companion bill to substitute House Bill 305. The resolution encourages the 133rd General Assembly to expedite the passage of the bill.
A Memorandum of Understanding with the Ridgemont Education Association for insurance updates was approved, effective Jan. 1.
The indoor track participation events were approved for the 2020-21 school year.
Ridgemont students are not in session today, Nov. 24, for teacher professional development, and the district’s Thanksgiving break continues Wednesday through Friday.
Friday, Dec.18, is a one-hour early release day prior to Christmas break, which continues through Jan. 1, with school back in session Jan. 4.
Members approved David Ramsey to join the Ridgemont Public Library Board, with a term continuing through Dec. 31, 2025.
The board also appreciation for the following donations: Richard Frazier, donation of school supplies to students, and Chelse Hamilton, donation of desks to kindergarten.
The next meeting is 5 p.m. Dec. 17, in math room 304.
