KRAMER |
A key component of Benjamin Logan’s girls soccer program for the last several years, Shelby Kramer is not ready for her career to end.
Kramer recently decided to accept an offer to play at Defiance College, an NCAA Division III program.
“It is a small school and I really liked the environment there,” said Kramer. “I feel like I can fit in well there, both in school and in soccer.”
Kramer was a first-team all-Central Buckeye Conference selection as a junior and senior for the Raiders. She primarily played at midfield for Ben Logan and was relied upon for her strong ball skills. She also was used to take the team’s penalty kicks, free kicks and corner kicks.
“Shelby will fit in well at the college level,” said Ben Logan head coach Dave Evans. “She is used to playing a high level of competition in the Central Buckeye Conference, so there should not be much of an adjustment in that regard.”
Kramer plans to keep refining her game as she preps for college soccer.
“I feel like I still need to work on my foot skills,” said Kramer, who also considered Bluffton University for her college home. “That is something I need to improve on before I get to college.”
Defiance is coming off a 3-15 season and is looking for immediate help, giving Kramer a chance to play early for the Yellow Jackets.
“She has worked hard to make herself a good soccer player and she is a good athlete,” said Evans. “She has the work ethic and the skills to have success at Defiance.”
Kramer plans to major in education at Defiance.
