Benjamin Logan’s volleyball team grabbed the momentum quickly Thursday and cruised past visiting Bellefontaine in three sets 25-16, 25-23, 25-22 during a Fight for Families match.
The Raiders improve to 9-6 on the season as the Chieftains fall to 4-11.
Lily Makin led Ben Logan with eight kills, nine points serving and a block, Kylie Frazier contributed seven kills and dished out 12 assists, Jordan Sexstone came up with eight digs, Molly Vance added seven digs, four kills and had six points with two aces, Lynzee Cronkleton came up with six digs, five kills and handed out 12 assists, while Kyndal Cronkleton added three kills.
For Bellefontaine, Sarah Starkey led with five kills, Katie Pool had four kills, Ari Nunez had 17 digs, while Pool and Lily Palmer combined for 27 assists.
Ben Logan’s junior varsity Black beat Bellefontaine 25-8, 25-12 and stay unbeaten at 15-0. Lauren Dixon led with five aces, five assists and two kills, Brielle Moorhouse dished out 10 assists with five digs, Macy Matthews had three kills and three digs, Lily Blackburn had five kills and seven digs and Georgia Bates had 10 digs.
The Ben Logan junior varsity Gold team also beat Bellefontaine. Madelyn Harmon led the Radiers with four kills and four assists, Alex Algire had four kills and two aces, Lexi Sutherly had five assists and five points with three aces and Bailee Stover had six points with two aces.
Ben Logan competes in its third straight match today at home against Indian Lake in another Volley for a Cure match. Bellefontaine travels to Tecumseh on Thursday for a CBC Kenton Trail match.
Lakers fall to Arrows
Indian Lake’s volleyball team couldn’t get on track against visiting Tecumseh as the Arrows won in four sets Thursday 20-25, 25-23, 25-14, 25-12 in a Central Buckeye Conference match.
The Lakers slide to 2-13 on the season as the Arrows move to 4-9.
Kendall Cotterman led Indian Lake with five kills, two aces, was 19-19 serving and 17-19 hitting, Stephanie Altstaetter had 12 assists and was 14-14 serving, Shania Fruchey tallied seven kills, Allix Cotterman recorded 34 digs and Kayli Tussing added 16 digs.
In junior varsity action, Indian Lake beat Tecumseh 25-18, 25-17. Madison Brentlinger sparked the Lakers with four kills, eight assists, was 9-9 serving, 19-19 setting and 13-13 hitting, Lexi Lones had six digs, was 5-5 serving and was 9-10 serve receive and Tori Roby had two kills and was 9-9 hitting.
Indian Lake travels to Benjamin Logan today for a Volley for the Cure match.
Tigers sweep Knights
West Liberty-Salem’s volleyball team bounced host Greenon in three sets on Thursday 25-18, 25-9, 25-10 for an Ohio Heritage Conference win.
The Tigers improve to 10-3 overall and are 9-1 in the OHC standings, while the Knights drop to 2-13, 1-10.
Michele Smith sparked WL-Salem with nine kills, two aces six digs and was 7-7 serving, Gabby Williams had three kills, there aces, 18 assists, five digs and was 18-20 serving, Leah Ropp tallied four kills, five aces, a dig and was 8-9 serving, Bailey Poppe recorded six kills, three aces, eight digs, one block and was 9-9 serving and Ally Garver added five aces, 10 digs, was 17-18 serving and was 11-13 serve receive.
In junior varsity action, Greenon rallied to beat WL-Salem 17-25, 25-19, 25-23.
Mallory Bostick paced the Tigers with nine kills, four aces and was 10-11 serving, Rylie Schultz had seven kills and a dig, Bella Meister had four aces, two kills, 17 assists, five digs, was 55-55 setting and 19-20 serving, Makenna Smith had 11 digs, four assists and was 10-10 serving, Shae Stoner had two aces, five digs and was 6-9 serving and Whitney Strapp had three aces, seven digs and was 9-9 serving.
WL-Salem travels to state-ranked Northeastern on Thursday for more OHC action.
