The storybook season for the Benjamin Logan’s boys soccer team continued with another dramatic chapter Monday as the third-seeded Raiders fought off second-seeded Milton-Union 1-0 in a Division II district semifinal in Tipp City.
The Raiders earned their eighth shutout of the season to extend their school record for wins. They are now 13-4-1 and advance to play Wyoming at 7 p.m. Thursday at Lebanon High School.
The first half was scoreless. The Raiders broke through with a huge goal at the 21-minute mark of the second half.
Blaine Worden scored on an indirect free kick pass from Caleb Epp to make it 1-0.
Goal keeper Breshon Jacobs and the rest of the Ben Logan defense held on the rest of the way for the victory.
“At this point I am almost at a loss for words,” said Ben Logan head coach Jamie Hughes. “To see the amount of work these guys have put in and then to see them have the successes that they have had this season, is the most rewarding thing a coach can be a part of. I could not be more proud of these guys and I can promise you that when we go down to Lebanon on Thursday, we will be looking to bring home a district title. Man, this has been a lot of fun.”
Wyoming is the fourth-ranked team in the Division II state coaches poll. It advanced with a 3-0 win over Indian Hill on Monday.
